Driven by curiosity.
Fueled by creativity.
Inspired by the courage of scientists everywhere.
Let’s dive into the unknown and see what we can discover together.

Who am I,
how can I help?

To do that work, and make it impactful, takes trust and respect and support. It takes skilled, passionate people and dedicated capital. It takes a village, as they say. Every individual, all the parts, every piece of the puzzle matters.

My career has been shaped by bringing ideas and people together in ways that drive science, spark innovation, and create impactful therapeutics. I focus not only on the scientific side of the industry, but also on people – the culture of science – because I believe a diverse team of experts who do their work with passion and skill is crucial to unlocking discovery and impact.

Let’s talk about how we can get there together.

The only way I know how to create impact is to be as open and inclusive as possible. To fully engage in the beauty of the scientific process for its own sake. To be passionate about it – in spite of the headaches, disappointments, dead ends, long days, and sleepless nights. Why? Because it’s fun. It can even be inspirational. What other line of work creates medicine that offers healing and hope for people that need it?

That said, science can not always be about being right, being “successful,” or consistently delivering useful inventions, even though we want it to be. It’s about doing the work, and doing it well. It is about dedication and embracing the unknown, and enjoying that. Forever inching toward some kind of truth.

Janine Schuurman

Janine’s career centers around the antibody molecule: as a biological source of inspiration and as a therapeutic modality. In 2000, she joined Genmab to develop antibody therapeutics. As one of the first ten employees on the R&D team, she significantly helped propel the discovery and development of investigational therapies to help people with cancer and other diseases.

Now an independent biotech consultant and thought leader, she is as passionate and active as ever: she collaborates with many organizations and speaks at scientific conferences around the world. She is increasingly focussed on the impact of leadership and organizational culture on innovation, and it is her strong belief that being curious and valuing different expertise and capabilities is key to driving innovative research and new technologies.
